Okno – Close Encounters. The Kana’s Voices.
Everyone remembers and feels a performance’s duration in a different way. For one viewer an hour-long performance will seem like a short moment, while the other will experience it as if it lasted five hours. The same moment can be a breakthrough for someone, while someone else reacts to it with a shrug. In the April edition of OKNO, I would like to invite you to an encounter with three extremely expressive statements of four theatre artists who understand theatre, stage time and the work with pace in their own, unique ways.
Imre Thormann is a master of precise creation of images using the simplest stage means: in his performances the central place is occupied by a clear picture of a human figure – the performer himself – and the vast range of his gestures, delicate and predatory, stands for words. In the oneiric False David the perception of viewers follows the perfectly conducted work of the body and the smallest detail begins to sparkle with meanings.
Benjamin Verdonck will take us on a miniature journey to the world of moving minimalist images of light and its background. Fourteen minutes of theatre experience – of the phenomenon of life: appearance, continuation, transformation, disappearance.
On the last day, I would like to invite you to the world performances bursting with stimuly of Vegard Vinge and Ida Müller. We will immerse ourselves in an organism devouring everything that is in its path: from the world heritage of literature to branded objects of everyday use. This is a theatre powerful as tornado. It processes the reality given to the mind which has been choked by the consumption of the western world, giving it the unique, cartoon-hallucinogenic rhythm of images. During this several-hour meeting, we will see fragments of their performances originally lasting many hours – followed by commentaries and conversation with this amazing duo.
Invited and recommended by Janek Turkowski – cheers!
