“TOTENTANZ CIRCUS”
We are all members of languishing circus group. We’re constantly reviewed in the eyes of the audience. Sometimes applauded, other times ridiculed, often at odds with our own intentions. It is no different in Totentatz Circus, where the actors in their mischievous personas become allegories of everyday life from which they try so hard to distance themselves. A worn-out, colorful costume will not cover up a poverty, challenging the law of gravity in stunts will not stop falling bombs, and carmine lips won’t stretch into an authentic smile.
The Dance of Death, not only opens and closes the performance, its delicate involuntary rhythm, pulsates in an understatement on the verge of audibility in each scene. Just like what is hidden and mysterious, but at the same time inevitable and final, accompanies us throughout our lives.

Wir sind alle Mitglieder einer verfallenen Zirkusgruppe. Konstant spiegeln wir uns in den Augen der Zuschauer. Zuweilen applaudiert, mal ausgelacht, häufig unseren Absichten zuwider. Nicht anders sieht es im Totentanz Circus aus, wo die Schauspieler in ihren humorvollen Kreationen zu Allegorien des Alltags werden, von dem sie so sehr versuchen sich zu entfernen. Der Totentanz öffnet nicht nur die Aufführung und sondert endet sie auch, sein feiner Rhythmus pulsiert im Ungesagten, auf der Hörbarkeitsgrenze in jeder Szene. Desgleichen wie das verborgene und geheimnisvolle, aber auch unabdingbare und endgültige, begleitet und das ganze Leben lang.
