Dancing your way home

Dancing your way home

From June to December 2023, Nellie, Bartek and Mira, freshly graduated dancers from Stockholm University of Arts, did an internship together in Kana Theatre.

In an attempt to get to know the theatre and its people, someone explained Kana to us through the idea of a trampoline. A place from which you can take off, get momentum and support, a place that you constantly come back to. We started thinking about our internship in the same way.

Suspended between Stockholm, Berlin, Gärsnäs and Szczecin, nomading, roaming and jumping around, we were asking a question that never gets old: where is home?

Is home where my community is?
Is it in the landscape of my ancestry?
Is it in my body, our bodies?
Is it in what we are doing, in the dancing?
Can we become home for each other?

Dancing Your Way Home is an attempt, a beginning, an encounter. During the internship we have been engaging with questions around localities, collectivity and dancing with Kana as a starting point. Now, we invite you to an evening, a work in progress, in which we share insights into our common as well as individual processes.
