This year’s “24H Bonds” is another attempt – deepened by the last year’s experience – to state circularity of time and space, real and mental neighborhood, closeness and encounter (despite the otherness). It is an attempt of 24-hour feast, but at the same time an attempt of not avoiding important questions: of meeting the issues which are uncomfortable difficult, and fear-inspiring and for these reasons are automatically moved beyond the circle of consciousness. This is also the encounter with what allows us to see that the Other is similar to us.
We are going to mark out three circles around the Kana Theatre. The first circle, the nearest one – our neighborhood – is established with our neighbors from Germany. There will be several stages surrounding the Kana – the feast of music and dance, of lights, of songs, of workshops and of tasting – for adults and children alike. The 24-hour Dance House. Food for story. Theatre. Performance. Musical experiment. Lighting up. The second circle is a bit broader; it penetrates the space with its meaning. The Dialogue Center Breakthroughs. The Szczecin Philharmonic. The Academy of Arts. The Castle Route. Trafo Center for Contemporary Art. The church. Performances. Theatres. Sounds. Movies. Image. Finally, the third circle – touching what is distant, what perhaps we would rather not know, or would rather not think about. Although the places included in this circle and situations they evoke are – seemingly – far away, it is up to us how much we want to understand and embrace the fate of those for whom time and circumstances are not so favorable. The third circle will be marked up in our heads.
The program includes, among others, the Ex Nihilo Theatre with the danced tale of refugees and castaways seeking a new Paradise, the images of the conflict from the West Bank in a documentary-dance project “Archive”, the intimate images taken by Volker Gerling during his journey (“Portraits in motion”), the touching testimony of homelessness by the Eighth Day Theatre (“Rozstawili namiot wśród nas”), the Benjamin Verdonck’s mechanism of transformation, beautiful in its simplicity and focused on playing with dimensions, fairy tales about the beginning of the world (Oliver Jost), the tricky Małe Instrumenty [Small Instruments], the evening fables by Patrick and Kalina Zakrocki, the morning love songs by Ola Bilińska (“Libelid”), the crazy band from the heart of Romania, songs and sounds of the Far and Middle East, some good jazz, lots of good folk music, surprising 24-hour performances (Antoni Karwowski and Arti Grabowski, among others), actions, radio broadcasts , happenings.
And if we are as lucky as we were last year, we will welcome the Sun together at the Kana Meadow.
