The feminist seminar organized by us has been inspired by "The Mother of All Questions", the most recent book by Rebecca Solnit published in Poland. We are going to discuss importance of individual voices in the public space. Solnit has authored more than 20 books on sociology, anthropology and politics. In "The Mother of All Questions" she reflects on the place of women in everyday debate, at the same time treating the right to be heard as one of the greatest assets of the modern world. What might the redistribution of this wealth lead to, and who will take the consequences of this process?
We invite you to join us for a conversation about the book "Mother of All Questions". Employing the equality discourse, we will consider the issues of omission, intimidation, unfounded criticism, as well as overt and covert violence that women face on a daily basis. We are going to reflect together on what oppression is and how it is manifests in the everyday world. Then we are going to analyse the strategies, discussed by Solnit, that empower women while giving them a clear right to be heard. This will be a time to talk about situations in which we take charge of ourselves and make free choices.
