Educational meeting - Pałac Paprotno
The third meeting will be devoted to the somatic exploration of our "fluid origin". Led by Katarzyna Sitarz and Sylvain Meret, we will immerse ourselves in physical and metaphorical watery environments. Locate from the space of the old mill in Przecław, we will commune with nature (the nearby Lower Oder Valley Landscape Park, the Kurowskie Błota and Kanały Nature Reserve). We will observe how "liquid nature" conducts and stores various dimensions of temporality, local globality, and a wealth of meanings and traces. We will see that we can learn from repair as repairing some kind of liquid organism that is permanently potent and corrodes the structure.
Katarzyna Sitarz - a freelance dancer, performer, choreographer and voice & movement researcher. In her artistic practices she oscillates between art, environment, experimental choreography and the kinaesthetic understanding of the world. She is fascinated by the relation of voice, body and movement, creating multi-layered sensory, polyphonic artworks. For many years she explored various approaches towards somatic, vocal and improvisational techniques, learning from artists such as Meredith Monk, Andrew Morrish, Lisa Nelson, Irena Tomazin among others. She deepens the secrets of neuroscience, linguistics and traditional singing, which she also expands in her performative activities, audio tours, podcasts and installations.
Katarzyna is the initiator and curator of various creative, social and educational projects at Witryna Kultury Foundation (Szczecin, PL) and she regularly collaborates with Art Stations Foundation (Poznań, PL/ Susch, CH), Kana Theater in Szczecin, MAAS Theater en Dans in Rotterdam, as well as various institutions in Europe and Worldwide. She studied Dance and Choreography at Rotterdam Dance Academy (NL), Slavic Philology at Vratislavia University (PL), Experimental Physical Performance at SMASH Berlin (DE) and voice at The Lichtenberger Institute for Applied Voice Physiology (DE). Currently, she is in the certification process of the TRE ® method, working with the nervous system through the neurogenic tremors of the body.
Silvain Meret - French dancer, choreographer, improviser, terapeut and teacher. His dance career has always been intertwined with a curiosity for understanding the lived relationship between the body and the mind through the lens of healing and transformation. He studied Visual Arts, Contemporary Dance (PARTS) and Dance Therapy (Codarts) and he is a Registered Somatic Movement Educator/Therapist and board ambassador of ISMETA. He learned the Continuum Method from its creator Emily Conrad, also training with experts in the field of movement somatics such as Christine Caldwell and Amber Gray. He was also initiated in several forms of ancient body wisdom in Brazil, in Altai, with Qi Gong Master Li Jung Feng, and with the Amerindian Shaman Dancing Thunder. For the last 20 years, he has been involved with the form of music dance improvisation/ composition, working extensively with Katie Duck, Makiko Ito and the Collectif Tutti (FR) among others. From these experiences and in combination with Continuum, he is developing a research on sound and movement in relationship to brain states, awareness, trance, embodiment, fascias&connective tissues, cellular awareness and deep connectedness with our environment. Through the association le Souffle co-créateur, Sylvain teaches Continuum based workshops, classes, retreats and private sessions in France and Europe. He is currently running a somatic movement training « Somanaute » exploring the human potential through a conscious partnership with Nature as an intelligent and evolving creative flux.
