In my thinking about butoh, "jinen" is the most important. "Jinen" doesn’t mean not only Nature; it means rather: a dance with everything. Many dancers think: ''I'm dancing'. In butoh the perspective is different: "I'm danced". I am danced by a wind, by darkness, by various life situations. If I am an animal in my dance, I am seeking it in myself: I am asking: 'What kind of movement it is?' Some kind of transformation takes place. "Jinen butoh" is founded on meeting various different life situations and dancing with them. I dance with everything. Also with darkness, with weakness. Butoh dance is like destroying a wall.
