OFF KONTRAPUNKT: Dummy and Utopia

Iwona Konecka
theatre production

What we hear is a reasoning of a little tired activist who wants to give up a bit, but she is not able to. In a pseudo-academic form, she presents to the audience the meaning of her actions, immediately countering it with a poetic-theatrical image. That is why Dummy and Utopia is an essay-on-stage. The artist seeks her topics in journalism and political philosophy, and above all in new Polish poetry. Inspirations from which she assembles her theatre metaphors are mercurial and uncontrollable; we can see sequences of explosions, rock concerts, some gasoline, and even Santa Claus... Somewhere between the lecture hall and the go-go club Iwona Konecka provokes the audience to break away from their everyday life that pretends to be the only legitimate and unavoidable – and to look into the future; in fact: into several variants of future, more or less possible...

A spectacle for the spectators over 16 years of age.
