Artistic search of Ukrainian actresses mariia&magdalyna together with double bassist and electronic musician Khrystyna Kirik.
On February 24, 2022, russia launched a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine. This marked the beginning of the most brutal phase of the bloody 8-year war against the Ukrainian people.
„human?.." is a musical journey: a compilation of daily diaries written during the war alongside texts from the Bible. With these texts in hand, over the span of 2 weeks, the artists explored topics of love, acceptance, forgiveness, anger, sin, and hatred.
This is a reflection on what musicians and all Ukrainians alike faced on February 24, 2022. Meditative melodies, transforming into broken tempo to emphasize the words. The heart follows the melody, slows down and speeds up, and together with the performers experiences the disintegration of the past, the destruction of the world, and reflections on what the future will be. The album uses both classical and electronic musical instruments, alongside both singing and spoken-word recitations.
mariia&magdalyna is the duo of Marusia and Nadiia, who have been working together for 9 years. Over these years, they were involved in more than 10 projects, including being members of the social rave band "TseSho", and actresses in the Dakh theater. In 2020, the duo launched a project for theatrical liturgies, combining biblical texts with their own experience in performance, empathetic reflections, and modern sound. For this album, the duo were joined by double-bassist and electronic musician Khrystyna Kirik, who translated her emotions into sound and created the music for the performance. Chaotic, arrhythmic melodies that absorb the pain of the new reality.

Ein künstlerisches Experiment des ukrainischen Duos mariia&magdalyna mit Chrystyna Kirik, einer Kontrabassistin, die auch elektronische Instrumente spielt.
"Am 24. Februar 2022 startete Russland eine umfassende militärische Invasion in der Ukraine. Damit begann die brutalste Phase des blutigen achtjährigen Krieges gegen die Ukrainer.
"human?..." ist eine musikalische Reise: eine Zusammenstellung von Tagebüchern, die während des Krieges geführt wurden, mit Texten aus der Bibel. Mit diesen Texten in der Hand erkundeten die Künstler im Laufe von zwei Wochen Themen wie Liebe, Akzeptanz, Vergebung, Wut, Sünde und Hass. Die Performance ist eine Reflexion darüber, womit die Künstlerinnen - wie alle Ukrainerinnen und Ukrainer - am 24. Februar 2022 konfrontiert wurden.
Meditative melodische Linien werden durch Wechsel im Tempo transformiert, um die Bedeutung und den Sinn der Worte zu unterstreichen. Das Herz folgt der Musik, verlangsamt und beschleunigt sich - gemeinsam mit den Künstlern erlebt es den Zerfall der Vergangenheit, die Zerstörung der Welt und macht sich Gedanken über die Zukunft. Die Künstler verwenden sowohl klassische als auch elektronische Musikinstrumente; sie setzen auch Gesang und Rezitation ein.
mariia&magdalyna ist ein seit 9 Jahren bestehendes Duo, dessen Mitglieder Marusia Ionova und Nadiia Golubtsova sind. In dieser Zeit haben die beiden Künstlerinnen mehr als ein Dutzend Projekte durchgeführt, unter anderem als Mitglieder von "TseSho", einer sozial engagierten Rave-Gruppe, und als Schauspielerinnen des Dakh-Theaters, Leiterinnen der Dakh-Theaterschule in Kiew. Im Jahr 2020 startete das Duo ein Projekt für theatralische Liturgien, bei dem sie biblische Texte mit ihrer eigenen Performance-Erfahrung, einfühlsamen Reflexionen und modernen Klängen kombinieren. Für dieses Projekt wurde das Duo von Khrystyna Kirik, einer Kontrabassistin, die auch elektronische Instrumente spielt, unterstützt, die ihre Emotionen in Klänge umsetzte und die Musik für die Performance "human?..." schuf. - chaotische, arrhythmische Melodien, die den Schmerz einer neuen Realität aufnehmen."
