What have you got there...? We’ve got nothing - a theatre action

Fascination with memory – or, with lack of memory – has inspired us to write down fragments of our life, as well as lives of the people we know.
Our childhood, the childhood of our parents, and of our grandparents is a very important part of it. We are a small community, so these threads are often intertwined in our families and our neighbors’ families.

Some time ago puppets came to us. They came here from the community center affiliated to the “Wspólny Dom” Housing Cooperative in Szczecin. In our work and in our performance we would like to refer to the moment of their arrival to our society. Then they could personate our children and their stories from the backyards. . . today’s teenagers as well as those who are in their fifties, sixties, and seventies yet used to children in the past. The puppets will come to life in the hands of children, reviving their tales, forgotten games and secrets. By means of unreal, fairy-tale puppets we are going to tell about real situations, games and contacts. We are going to inspire children to play games that allow them to get to know each other and bring them closer together.

Luiza Supernak is an animator of culture, and a longtime employee of the Communal Center of Culture and Libraries in Dobra (the head of Stolec branch). She has participated in the project “Cultural Education for Social Skills” (a program supporting initiatives directed towards young people, developing their creativity, interests and skills). I run classes with children and young people, I also have experience working with adults and seniors. I am the founder of an informal group working at the Stolec branch of the Communal Center of Culture and Libraries in Dobra founded in 2014. I take initiatives supporting the development and creativity of the habitants, social and inter-generational integration, establishing a sense of local identity and community, promoting various forms of creative activities. I am very passionate about all kinds of activities related to memory, recording and fixing it, and returning to the past.

Anastasiya Miedviedieva is a graduate of the National University of Arts in Kharkov (specialization: Actor of the Theatre of Animation). She has been working as an actress, a director, an animator, an organizer of theatre projects. She has participated in the Academy of Alternative Theatre accomplished by the Jerzy Grotowski Institute, The Brama Theatre and The Kana Theatre. Since 2014 I have been running activities for various age groups (among others, The Mała Brama children’s group) as well as intergenerational activities in the Brama Theatre. I am also involved in pedagogical work with the youth. I am interested in group building through games, theatrical exercises, and children’s creativity. My special focus is on triggering children’s social talents. I am fascinated by puppets as a tool that facilitates dialogue between people, and allows us to be braver in expressing ourselves. I love to play with children, I feel that they need it, and that this need is not always satisfied at home. I also learn new games from them.
