WORKSHOP : the way to your personal sound
For a song to reveal, it is important to find the way to sing it - where from, in myself, I can find the
genuine source of energy. In everyone of us lies an original, pre-sound connected to the essence of the self. To find this source means finding your power - power to create. It is also creating a place for gathering : at the same time the intimate point of everyone and the place of meeting. Then, individual sounds mix, and a vertical canal of sound appears where one can act lightly on his full scale.
In polyphonic ritual chanting, one shifts continuously from melting into an anonymous body of sound / rhythm / movement - to the rigorous position of leader (1st person utterance).
During these two days, we will look for the place to sing from, basing our research on old chants from Slavic and Latin tradition (mostly from Ukrainian and Corsican origins).
The workshop will be directed by the two leaders of the project, Jean-François Favreau and Ulyana Horbachevska. It is intended for all human beings interested in this process regardless of age nor skills. It does not require any preparation. Musical material will be given, and taken, on the place.
